אלַֽמְנַצֵּחַ שִׁ֣יר מִזְמ֑וֹר הָרִ֥יעוּ לֵֽ֜אלֹהִ֗ים כָּל־הָאָֽרֶץ: |
| 2Sing the glory of His name; make glorious His praise. |
|
בזַמְּר֥וּ כְבוֹד־שְׁמ֑וֹ שִׂ֥ימוּ כָ֜ב֗וֹד תְּהִלָּתֽוֹ: |
| Sing the glory of His name: Sing in honor of His name. Or: Recite the glory of His name with music and song. |
|
זמרו כבוד שמו:
זמרו בכבוד שמו א"נ ספרו כבוד שמו בזמר ושיר:
|
| 3Say to God, "How awesome are Your deeds! Through the greatness of Your might, Your enemies will admit their lies to You. |
|
גאִמְר֣וּ לֵֽ֖אלֹהִים מַה־נּוֹרָ֣א מַֽעֲשֶׂ֑יךָ בְּרֹ֥ב עֻ֜זְּךָ֗ יְכַֽחֲשׁוּ־לְךָ֥ אֹֽיְבֶֽיךָ: |
| How awesome: is each one of Your deeds! |
|
מה נורא:
כל אחד ממעשיך:
|
| Through the greatness of Your might: When You show the world Your might, through pestilence, sword, famine, or lightning. |
|
ברוב עוזך:
כשאתה מראה לעולם עוזך על ידי דבר או חרב או רעב או ברקים:
|
| Your enemies: The wicked, confess their lies and sins because of their great fear. |
|
אויביך:
הרשעים מרוב פחד מודים על כחש ועבירות שבידם (ע"כ התוס'):
|
| 4All the earth will prostrate themselves to You and sing praises to You; they will sing praises to Your name forever." |
|
דכָּל־הָאָ֚רֶץ | יִשְׁתַּֽחֲו֣וּ לְ֖ךָ וִֽיזַמְּרוּ־לָ֑ךְ יְזַמְּר֖וּ שִׁמְךָ֣ סֶֽלָה: |
| 5Go and see the deeds of God, awesome in His deeds toward mankind. |
|
הלְכ֣וּ וּ֖רְאוּ מִפְעֲל֣וֹת אֱלֹהִ֑ים נוֹרָ֥א עֲ֜לִילָ֗ה עַל־בְּנֵ֥י אָדָֽם: |
| awesome in His deeds: Feared by mankind, lest He find a transgression in them, for all their deeds are revealed to You. |
|
נורא עלילה:
יראוי על בני אדם פן ימצא להם פשע כי כל מעשיהם גלוים לך:
|
| 6He turned the sea into dry land; in the river they crossed by foot; there we rejoiced with Him. |
|
והָ֚פַךְ יָ֨ם | לְֽיַבָּשָׁ֗ה בַּ֖נָּהָֽר יַֽעַבְר֣וּ בְרָ֑גֶל שָׁ֜֗ם נִשְׂמְחָה־בּֽוֹ: |
| He turned the sea into dry land: The Sea of Reeds. |
|
הפך ים ליבשה:
ים סוף:
|
| there it rejoiced with it: I found: There was a thing with which the sea rejoiced, i.e., that the sea saw the Holy One, blessed be He. |
|
שם נשמחה בו:
מצאתי שם היה דבר שהיה נשמח בו כלומר שראה הים את הקב"ה:
|
| 7With His might, He rules the world; His eyes oversee the nations; the rebellious ones will not exalt themselves, ever. |
|
זמ֘שֵׁ֚ל בִּגְבֽוּרָת֨וֹ | עוֹלָ֗ם עֵ֖ינָיו בַּגּוֹיִ֣ם תִּצְפֶּ֑ינָה הַסּֽוֹרְרִ֓ים | אַל־יָר֖וּמוּ (כתיב יָר֖יּמוּ) לָ֣מוֹ סֶֽלָה: |
| will not exalt themselves: Their hand will not be high. |
|
אל ירומו:
אל תהי ידם רמה:
|
| 8O peoples, bless our God, and make the voice of His praise heard. |
|
חבָּֽרֲכ֖וּ עַמִּ֥ים | אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ וְ֜הַשְׁמִ֗יעוּ ק֣וֹל תְּהִלָּתֽוֹ: |
| O peoples, bless our God: for His wonders, that He kept our soul alive in exile, and you cannot annihilate us. |
|
ברכו עמים אלהינו:
על נפלאותיו שהוא שם נפשנו בחיים בגלות ואינכם יכולים להשמיד אותנו:
|
| 9He, Who kept our souls alive and did not let our foot falter. |
|
טהַשָּׂ֣ם נַ֖פְשֵׁנוּ בַּֽחַיִּ֑ים וְלֹֽא־נָתַ֖ן לַמּ֣וֹט רַגְלֵֽנוּ: |
| 10For You tested us, O God; You refined us as though refining silver. |
|
יכִּֽי־בְחַנְתָּ֥נוּ אֱלֹהִ֑ים צְ֜רַפְתָּ֗נוּ כִּצְרָף־כָּֽסֶף: |
| You tested us: with distress in the exile. |
|
כי בחנתנו:
בצרה בגולה:
|
| You refined us: to remove the dross from us when we repent before You, as they refine silver to remove its dross. |
|
צרפתנו:
להסיר הסיגים ממנו שנשוב בתשובה לפניך כמו שצורפים הכסף להסיר הסיגים ממנו:
|
| 11You brought us into a trap; You placed a chain on our loins. |
|
יאהֲבֵאתָ֥נוּ בַמְּצוּדָ֑ה שַׂ֖מְתָּ מּוּעָקָ֣ה בְמָתְנֵֽינוּ: |
| You brought us into a trap: A narrow place, like in a prison. |
|
הבאתנו במצודה:
במקום צר כמו במאסר:
|
| a chain: Heb. מועקה, an expression of locking up, and every [expression of] מֵעִיק and מֵצִיק is like it. |

לשון מסגר וכל המעיק והמציק כמוהו:
|
| 12You caused man to ride at our head; we came in fire and water, and You took us out to satiety. |
|
יבהִרְכַּ֥בְתָּ אֱנ֗וֹשׁ לְרֹ֫אשֵׁ֥נוּ בָּֽאנוּ־בָאֵ֥שׁ וּבַמַּ֑יִם וַ֜תּֽוֹצִיאֵ֗נוּ לָֽרְוָיָֽה: |
| You caused man to ride at our head: The kings of all the heathen nations. |
|
הרכבת אנוש לראשינו:
מלכי כל אומה ואומה:
|
| 13I shall come to Your house with burnt offerings; I shall pay You my vows, |
|
יגאָב֣וֹא בֵֽיתְךָ֣ בְעוֹל֑וֹת אֲשַׁלֵּ֖ם לְךָ֣ נְדָרָֽי: |
| I shall come to Your house: when You build the Temple, we shall pay our vows that we vowed in exile. |
|
אבוא ביתך:
בבנותך בית המקדש נשלם נדרינו שנדרנו בגולה:
|
| 14Which my lips uttered and my mouth spoke in my distress. |
|
ידאֲשֶׁר־פָּצ֥וּ שְׂפָתָ֑י וְדִבֶּר־פִּ֜֗י בַּצַּר־לִֽי: |
| 15Burnt offerings of fat animals I shall offer up to You with the burning of rams; I shall prepare cattle with he-goats forever. |
|
טועֹ֘ל֚וֹת מֵיחִ֣ים אַֽעֲלֶה־ לָּ֖ךְ עִם־קְטֹ֣רֶת אֵילִ֑ים אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֨ה בָקָ֖ר עִם־עַתּוּדִ֣ים סֶֽלָה: |
| fat: Heb. מיחים, fat, an expression of מוֹחַ, marrow. |

| 16Come, hearken and I shall tell all you who fear God what He did for my soul. |
|
טזלְכ֚וּ שִׁמְע֣וּ וַֽ֖אֲסַפְּרָה כָּל־יִרְאֵ֣י אֱלֹהִ֑ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר עָשָׂ֣ה לְנַפְשִֽׁי: |
| all you who fear God: They are the proselytes who became converted. |

הם הגרי' שיתגיירו:

| 17My mouth called out to Him, and He was exalted under my tongue. |
|
יזאֵלָ֥יו פִּי־קָרָ֑אתִי וְ֜רוֹמַ֗ם תַּ֣חַת לְשׁוֹנִֽי: |
| My mouth called out to Him: When we were in exile, we called out to Him, and we recited His exaltation with our tongue. |
|
אליו פי קראתי:
כשהיינו בגולה קראנוהו וספרנו רוממותיו בלשוננו:
|
| and He was exalted: Heb. ורומם, like ונתרומם, and He was exalted. I found: With my mouth, I called out to Him. ורומם is a noun. His exaltation is ready under my tongue to be let out of my mouth, as (Job 20:12): “though he hide it under his tongue.” |

ורומם:
כמו ונתרומם, מצאתי בפי קראתי אליו ורומם שם מלה רוממות שלו מוכן תחת לשוני להוציאו בפה כמו (איוב כ) יכחידנה תחת לשונו:

| 18If I saw iniquity in my heart, the Lord does not hear it. |
|
יחאָוֶן אִם־רָאִ֣יתִי בְלִבִּ֑י לֹ֖א יִשְׁמַ֥ע | אֲדֹנָֽי: |
| If I saw iniquity, etc.: He did not deal with us according to our sins, but He made Himself as though He neither saw nor heard the iniquity that was in our hearts. |
|
און אם ראיתי וגו':
לא פעל עמנו כחטאתינו עשה עמנו כלא רואה ולא שומע און שבלבבנו:
|
| 19But God heard; He hearkened to the voice of my prayer. |
|
יטאָכֵן שָׁמַ֣ע אֱלֹהִ֑ים הִ֜קְשִׁ֗יב בְּק֣וֹל תְּפִלָּתִֽי: |
| But: indeed you should know. |
|
אכן:
באמת יש לדעת:
|
| 20Blessed be God, Who did not remove my prayer and His kindness from me. |
|
כבָּר֥וּךְ אֱלֹהִ֑ים אֲשֶׁ֚ר לֹֽא־הֵסִ֖יר תְּפִלָּתִ֥י וְחַסְדּ֗וֹ מֵֽאִתִּֽי: |
| Who did not remove my prayer: from before Him, and He did not remove His kindness from me. |
|
אשר לא הסיר תפלתי:
מלפניו וחסדו לא הסיר מאתי:
