Gin is an alcoholic beverage made from a variety of grains or fruit and flavored with juniper berries and other spices. Is it kosher for Passover? That depends on how it is made.
Grain-based gin is 100% not kosher for Passover, since any time grains (wheat, barley, spelt, rye, or oats) ferment, the result is chametz (see What Is Chametz?).
Alcoholic beverages made of other substances are permitted—provided that it contain absolutely no chametz ingredients. Before purchasing, ascertain that the gin is certified as kosher for Passover.
In addition, there are some (including Chabad) who traditionally avoid all alcohol on Passover (with the exception of wine).
