I saw joy and sadness in my son’s eyes. The joy of Chanukah, and menorahs, and presents, and donuts. And the sadness of understanding that evil exists, even if it’s somewhere very far away.
Just as I greeted all the service members in the lounge with a loud “Merry Christmas,” I heard someone say, “Are you Jewish?” in a Southern accent.
“Be more Jewish, act more Jewish and appear more Jewish.”
