For the Conductor, a psalm by David.
How long, O Lord, will You forget me, forever? How long will You hide Your countenance from me?
How long must I seek counsel within my soul, [to escape] the grief in my heart all day? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
Look! Answer me, O Lord, my God; give light to my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death.
Lest my enemy say, "I have overcome him," [and] my oppressors rejoice when I falter.
I have placed my trust in Your kindness, my heart will rejoice in Your deliverance. I will sing to the Lord, for He has dealt kindly with me.
