Judaism and Artificial Intelligence
Every technological advance expands our understanding of ourselves and our world. It also deeply affects society, often shaking social norms and stability.
AI learning models, with their capacity to generate information and media, are certainly no exception. It’s vital that we come to an understanding of what these are, how they affects us, and what we must do to best harness them for the benefit, and not detriment, of our world, down to each and every individual.
There is nothing new under the sun. Every technological advance was planted within the creation at its very beginning by the Creator who is also the Author of our Torah. That is why, as Jews, at every crossroad and with each unfolding of time and progress, we reach deeper into Torah’s endless font of wisdom to inform, enlighten, and guide us. It is a tried and proven strategy that has carried us through every sort of social environment on Planet Earth for over 3,300 years.
Below are essays and videos produced by Chabad.org’s team of scholars. They provide us some of the perspectives we need to harness AI in a way that will help make G‑d’s world a kinder, wiser, and more harmonious place, the way its Creator meant it to become through the work of our hands.
