As part of Jewish Heritage Month, Rabbi Hillel Zaltzman, president of Chamah International, was honored on May 25 at a luncheon on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., for decades of humanitarian and outreach work with Jews in the former Soviet Union.
After a special award was presented to him by Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Maryland), Zaltzman spoke of the selfless dedication of those inspired by the Lubavitcher Rebbe—Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory—to serve Soviet Jewry before and after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
